|opis:||This intelligent cane, with functions of voice reporting, warning, and storage, was designed to solve the problems of a visually impaired person. The reason why we invented this intelligent cane was that we met a blind person one day, who lost his way while trying to go home. He crossed the road at hazard because he couldn’t find the zebra crossing. Due to that dangerous situation, we wanted to help visually impaired people by reducing their risk when going out.
Compared with other existing products, our invention has a great advantage which is much easier to set up. We just need to let signal transmitters unite with the lampstands, then a lamppost network is formed. The signal transmitter installed in the lamppost sends its unique code by the way of the interaction between the lamppost code and the cane signal. When the cane receives the lamppost signal, it will vibrate. If the user shortly presses and then releases the button, the loudspeaker will inform the user about the number of the lamppost and the location information of the nearby area.
The body of the cane is equipped with a wraparound LED automatic lamp strip, which can also alert cars at night. The whole cane is designed into a two-folded structure to facilitate storage. Rather than relying on the Global Positioning System, our lamppost network positioning system provides a more powerful alternative. There are two main reasons. First, GPS is not fully accurate when obstacles, such as walls, buildings, skyscrapers, and trees obstruct a signal. However, lampposts are everywhere in the city, even in alleys, and most of them are only a few meters apart. Therefore, lamppost positioning has a higher orientation precision in high-density cities. Secondly, devices using GPS have a relatively high energy consumption and are not very suitable for continuous positioning. Hence, the function and use of our intelligent cane is more in line with the actual needs of the visually impaired.
